The main post-competition exhibition of the International Print Triennial always has a big impact on the map of events that are being organized by the Krakow Triennial.
The exhibition itself is preceded by numerous arrangements that result in the Jury’s decision as to the choice of work for the exhibition.
When we look back at the International Print Triennial – Krakow 2003, one has to
admit that it had drawn forth a great interest.
More than 3 000 works had been submitted for this competition from the international print artists. The International Jury had not an easy task to go through the multitude of artworks presenting a wide range of artistic expression in many different techniques. Finally the Jury headed by the Rector of Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow – prof. Jan Pamuła qualified 319 artists from 54 countries.
The main exhibition that had been shown in Krakow brought a great interest among Krakow people, many visitors from abroad came to see the exhibition, and many tourists were drawn to exhibition hall being attracted by the installation „Prints Garden” which they could see strolling through City Main Square.
Triennial would not implement its’ prime objective – to promote printmaking art and artists, not only locally but in any other place of the globe, if it would content itself in one exhibit. Thus the idea of a tour of the Main Triennial Exhibition. It had already travelled Poland, had been presented for two month in Horst Jansen Museum in Oldenburg, Germany. The crowds at the opening of the exhibition in Oldenburg give expression of interest in the Triennials show , later reaffirmed by press releases and art critics opinion. The exhibition was back to Krakow in July and did not had to wait long in Krakow. At the beginning of November it travelled to Györ and will be passed to Budapest in January.
We are proud and happy that our past and present actions serve the purpose of promoting, and publicizing this domain of art for the large public. Mutual relations between our Krakow institution and Györ make us especially happy due to the fact that we have a similar character of activity and a scope of interest. Similar, yet to exactly to the same extend. Variety is inspiring, cooperation is enriching. But first of all what matters is ART.
You are cordially invited to see the exhibition „MTG–Krakow Pays a Visit to Hungary”
